                           Chapter Four

                        SOGGINESS CONTINUED - Lake Louise

(8 August 1995)
I departed from Banff - after suffering long breakfast delays in a very smoky atmosphere - definitely leaving no 'tip' because of that - and went up the long valley to Lake Louise and Jasper. I found 'Louise' a very over-rated over-wet resort in the gloomy weather it experienced at the time.

Colleagues had given it a glowing report, - but I could not see across the lake, let alone the mountains!! There might have been a series of good views had it NOT been for the dense clouds, great mists and swirling RAIN! There we were, 7000feet up over the great divide between British Columbia and Alberta.

After a welcome diversion for food in the 'Palace' of a restaurant, I resumed my photographic attempts despite the lack of visible scenery. 'Twas a little frustrating and very difficult!! I did manage to get a few 'shots' - some which appear in this page.

Having departed this very wet area, in my coach which headed for the Athabasca Glacier - and this features in the next chapter. That was the highlight, for me, of this trek into the Canadian Rockies, being very impressive and a delight.

Let's return to Canadian index for reorientation.

or go to next chapter for continuation.
