Chapter One
PRIOR THOUGHTS
Some of the early thoughts before indulging in this trip/exploration were associated with
the high temperatures that I might encounter. Far too hot for me, - but the benefits of enduring that
'torture' were that I would witness some of the greatest monuments from antiquity.
I would have to prepare physically and psychologically for the experience.
My son, who had a year or two earlier, made a 'Christmas visit' to Egypt, its antiquities,
the camel rides, hotair ballooning, etc warned me about the over-zealous salesmen who could make
life very unpleasant. They are, there, the most virulent 'bug' on the planet!! I would have to take care
in that respect. His solution was to 'hire a local' who could 'fend them off' and leave him and his
lady friend alone to enjoy themselves.
Let's return to Egyptian index for reorientation.
.. or read the trip plan from the 1996 story in its
Egypt Notes.
