** EMAILS TO ROY **

This page is the 25 May 2005 edition of this page.

Unfortunately, on 21 October 2004, my INCOMING e-mails broke down in a catastrophic manner.
[It reported that there was a
"damaged table of contents"

- which was initially rebuilt by their auto-system's offer. It worked for a few hours and then a far more serious report emerged:-

"the program has performed an illegal operation" and it then went into a "shutdown" condition]

Since then, I have tried to contact my 'server' by Snail mail, EMail and Phone - but, for reasons ONLY known to themselves, their "CUSTOMER CARE TEAM" have been deficient in 'care' to my plight!

Before EMailing my EMail service people (EUDORA), I had a meeting with my son, and its seems as if my proposed DIY repair needed communication with my Internet Provider as well. Even then, if a solution is found, I have now DECIDED to CANCEL the EMail's IN channel. Incoming EMails to my usual address have been 'piling in' (and are inaccessible) because of their fault system. The inaccessible total reached '11000 PLUS messages' as of 28 January 2005.
On 2 May 2005, it couldn't even count them!!

Anything that you've sent me, since 21Oct'04, or need to contact me about - will only ADD to this great " inaccessible" pile. I cannot get at them until the 'care team' solves my problem!

PLEASE THEREFORE REFRAIN FROM EMAILING me until such time as a notice of a repair is given or I get a newer computer (to be informed on this page). Those who know my snail-mail address can still communicate THAT way. Similarly, you can phone me if you know that number.

Sorry about this problem - it is the ONLY time it has happened in over 10 years!! It means that my SERVICE of Email "Questions & Answers" will now have to cease. Sorry about THAT too, folks!

Plans for NEWER COMPUTER:
My main computer from "TIME" (a Pentium2) may be replaced, in about a year's time, with a Pentium4 from the TINY organisation which merged with "Time" since I bought the machine. That firm - GRANVILLE TECHNOLOGY GROUP - was sent a request about a week ago for their own 'brochure' so that I can assess my Hardware & Software options. Currently, I favour their "Home PC's" route as against the "Laptop" routes. More details as my plans develop!
