The first Major Country Music Festival that I attended at
the HEMSBY site way back in 1982
It ran for a week, their normal way of doing things, and this was from
2 October '82 until 9 October '82.
There were the usual high numbers of performers, at a phenomenally economic
entrance fee (thanks to the 'vision' of the late Bob Chappell).

A whole week here costed less than a day at Wembley!!
Apart from the musical attractions (my main reason for going) there were
many other attractions like:-
Country Music quizzes
Talent competitions
Country Dancing
Fast-draw competitions
Square Dancing
Country Music Films
and much more!!!
Performers appearing were:
Burnt Ash
Hickory Lake
WENDEL ADKINS (mis-spelt in the program as WENDY ATKINS)
(not a thing that I'd like to have done: He's a GIANT of a man!!)
TONE HOWARD (Square Dance caller and instructor)

The Pete Elliot Show
KEITH MANIFOLD
Ian Ashcroft
TONY BEST
LINDA CASSADY (the first of many times that I met the delightful lady
with the phenomenal voice)
Duffy Brothers
Dave Bryan & Moonshine
Billy Cordell & Cherokee
American Civil War Society
Kenny Serratt (The Merle Haggerd sound-alike!)
Hamiltons Power
Ruby Rendall
WEST VIRGINIA
PHILOMENA BEGLEY
Terry Edwards (Sound-alike for Slim Whitman!)
Ann & Ray Brett
The Dealers (old-style with close harmony)
The Good Timers
BOB Mc KINLEY & DIXIE FRIED
PATSY POWELL
Julie Byrne
MUSTANG
The Jenny Peters Duo (no relation!)
Vision
Miles & Bridget
The Rouchelles
That was sure "one hell of a line-up" - and was the continuation of a
decade with my support.
