The first Major Country Music Festival that I attended at
the HEMSBY site way back in 1982
It ran for a week, their normal way of doing things, and this the current year's
one was from 20 September '86 until 27 September '86.
There were the usual high numbers of performers, at a phenomenally economic
entrance fee (thanks to the 'vision' of the late Bob Chappell).

A whole week here costed less than a day at Wembley!!
I attended this one with my current lady friend, plus a couple that she
had befriended quite a while ago. The husband, of that particular couple,
was to be our caterer in our chalet. He was a GREAT GUY - totally
dedicated to 'country music' - and a wonderful planner for our meals.
Many thanks Don!!
Apart from the musical attractions (my main reason for going) there were
many other attractions like:-
Country Music quizzes
Talent competitions
Country Dancing
Fast-draw competitions
Square Dancing
Country Music Films
and much more!!!
Performers appearing were:
Lorne Gibson
Tennessee Moon (Mary Miller and a guy)
West Virginia
Hobo
Pete Palmer & Fox Mountain Express
Stu Page & Remuda (brilliant earlier on - but too loud later in week!)
Campbell's Country
Hank Hillam & Hole in the Wall Gang
TONE HOWARD (Square Dance caller and instructor)

Hugo Duncan & Band
Tony Goodacre (smashing!!)
Salt Box Band (very good)
Rogue Band
Anne & Rat Brett Trio
Little Ginny & her Band (Country Rock!)
Black Spur Road Band
Prairie Dogs
Johnnie Marks
Gene Stuart and the Homesteaders
Dave Bryan & Moonshine
Hickory Lake (due to a 'Froggie' cancellation!)
CLINTON FORD
Firewater
Cliff Ledger Family
That was sure "a great line-up" - and was the continuation of a
decade with my support.
