A FORMAL DEFINITION OF HUMANISM
Humanists are defined as people who believe that conduct should be based on reason, evidence, understanding and tolerance. They believe there is no supernatural force, nor is there certain knowledge of laws of historical progress - people must therefore face their problems with their own moral and intellectual resources, using the accumulated knowledge and experience of mankind. Since they tend not to believe in life after death, their concern is with this life, which they strive to make worthwhile. They claim no special knowledge or final answers, since they regard the search for understanding as a continuing process. HUMANIST FUNERALS I have long been disgusted with religious ceremonies, be they weddings, naming ceremonies or funerals - or whatever. They appear to be full of 'God-Botherers' with no reference to the HUMAN beings in question! That has, for many decades now, made me feel sick in the stomach. By contrast, the first two Humanist Funerals attended by me, concentrated not on any divine being, but a very moving tribute to the deceased - more like a "THIS IS YOUR LIFE"!! Thus my WILL has specified a HUMANIST FUNERAL for myself - with an unusual, though not for me, diversion from the classical musical tributes and readings. Appropriate COUNTRY MUSIC will appear at the relevant times. -------------------------------------- GROUP MEETINGS Most meetings in the Perdiswell Young People's Leisure Centre Perdiswell Park WORCESTER. -------------------------------------- Now, the programme appears in the W.H.O Official link .
