Preface
Like many people in the World, either interested in Geology or the unusual, or both, Iceland
has always fascinated me and provided a focus, there, for the way the Earth is developing -
even growing.
Its position astride the mid-Atlantic ridge is creating this dramatic environment - for
example, the birth of the island of Sertsey, just off its south coast in November 1963.
So, when my friends in the NSR (Norwegian State Railways) sent a brochure for
MORE than Norway (including Iceland, Sweden & Scandinavia in general) - I got very
interested in the fact that I could see (at very reasonable cost because Iceland is so close!) the
marvels of this unique island. A trip to see so many volcanos, beautiful waterfalls, hot
springs, geysers -and so on - appealed to me immediately and was booked on 31st March
1994 for a 26th June departure that year.
This 'book' tells of a few of the visits and experiences encountered on this 'mission'.
Now, you can carry on the way by
going to the 'trip's start!!
or return, now, to Icelandic index for reorientation.
Return to Roy's home page for full list of books and other writings either finished or under preparation.
