This is the 17 February 2005 edition of
this page and gives some of my previous, and
CURRENT, writings on another topic not of the 'Travel' category.
HUMANISM & ATHEISM
In the period between 1960 and 1967, I wrote many articles
and
letters under both my own name and my then pen-name "FREE-
THINKER", mainly for the MALVERN GAZETTE, a local paper in
Worcestershire. It always resulted in lively corresondence in
the
letters columns in the succeeding weeks. I joined in on these
as
well.
I also prepared a very long scroll called "The Science of Disbelieving" . This was for clearing and developing
personal philosophies - but has not been published yet. It was
a
style of writing quite different from my present one.
After a lay-off of over 20 years, to devote myself to
Country
Music and other pursuits, in 1994 I returned to the Humanist
Group
of which I was once Chairman and also a past-Secretary. I've
come full-circle here!

Internet link to Humanism used by me is to Codesh, the Council
for Secular
Humanism. World-wide links are provided. I also use the
link
to the
British Humanist
Association.(BHA)
The Future programmes for the Worcestershire Humanist
Organisation (WHO) are given via
the W.H.O link whilst for the neighbouring Cotswold Humanists' Programme one
can use the Cotswold
Connection.
In November 98, we encountered the thoughts of "The Sea of
Faith
Network", which is, by all accounts, a happy mid-way path
between
people from each religion and of NONE. It appears similar in
thoughts and methods to Humanism, the Quakers and a whole
range
of other people who still want a 'religion' - but without the
'trappings' of a 'supernatural' God. Its main common-ground,
not
having a creed or hierarchy, is that "religion is a human
creation". Sounds interesting!!
