** WEMBLEY 1979 FESTIVAL **

This page is the Edition dated 24 June 2005.

The very first Major Country Music Festival that I ever attended was at WEMBLEY in 1979.

This was the 11th International Festival of Country Music and was held at the Wembley Arena
from April 14-16 of '79.

[It was also held at Gothenburg, Helsinki, not forgetting Norway, Holland and Germany!!]

My wife and I attended Wembley on Sunday, April 15th in the South Arena in seats A23 & A24.
The artists that we saw, either in the Hall, the BBC Recording room, or in artist-meetings were:

	Ronnie Prophet (who introduced artists)
	TAMMY WYNETTE
Tammy.

Freddie Fender [what an interesting interview he gave for the BBC in a side room later!] Floyd Cramer Don Gibson Jeannie Denver Vernon Oxford
Vernon.

[what an interesting interview he gave for the BBC too!!] Barbara Fairchild Ray Lynam Mo Bandy BOX-CAR WILLIE (He appeared the night before - but, as normal for him, stayed very long after for meeting people, chatting & signing!)
boxie.
