Whitecliff Bay was a new place for me and on the east coast of the Island
(just south of Bembridge!)
I attended this event with a lady-friend, arriving there on 7th May 1988 for a short
'Festival' until 14th May 1988.
The full list of Artists, that we enjoyed, consisted of:-
Norman Maurant and the OTT Band (with his great 'smooth' voice)

Collins Family (now Family Tradition!)
Steve Wilson (solo)
Spellbound
Circuit Judge (not impressed!)
DENNY DENNIS Duo (Great Musicians!)

COTTON MILL BOYS (included incredible fiddle-playing)
MARK MILLER plus Greta & the Stray-shots
Duo (at Propeller Club in Bembridge)
GEORGE MOODY & Country Squires

Square-Dancing Instruction was available in some evenings and/or afternoons,
and even Western Dancing tuition in the mornings in the Culver Club.
Talent Competitions were on middayish - and some were quite good.
Whilst the artists were as good as when I'd seen them elsewhere - the
'organisation/disorganisation' on this site was pathetic and appalling!! In fact,
I never returned there again, - and even purposely FAILED a competition,
later during the week, to avoid winning a 'holiday' here!!!

During our time here, I bought a fabulous ELVIS PRESLEY WALL CARPET
- which is still on 'proud display' in my office at home.
After leaving Whitecliff Bay's Festival , I motored with my lady-friend
to Winchester (via the Needles and other IOW viewpoints) - also calling at
Southampton "Wildwood South Club" for the :
DAVE BRYAN TRIO (inc Pat & Roger Johns).
We even attended my friend's "PETERSFIELD CLUB" on the Sunday evening
to see the vastly improved
SPILL THE BEANS.
In the summer, in that year or the next, we were to accommodate Norman and the OTT
Band at my place in Malvern - whilst they appeared elsewhere in the Midlands.
I managed to get the band to the summit of the Malvern Hills - but, sadly, Norman
was too overweight for THAT exercise!!
