PENDINE, SOUTH WALES
Whilst in South Wales, on this occasion, mainly for PENDINE SANDS, we took
the opportunity to tent-out at the "Windmills Site", not far from Tenby. And,
furthermore, whilst there, took the opportunities to visit
CAREW CASTLE and the
TENBY ZOO, its animals, flower gardens and Model Railway displays.
Pendine Sands was easy enough to re-find, and I made my way directly to the famous
BEACH HOTEL (where all the world's fastest drivers of their time - serviced and
prepared their cars!). I had seen this place before with its marvellous historic interests
and collections - and I was wanting to show my companion, on this occasion, the
walled photos etc that had re-created the atmosphere of an earlier era when visited in
the 'sixties' with my wife and youngsters. Unfortunately, according to the new owner,
he was more than a little annoyed when the previous owner had "done a runner" with
these priceless historic possessions. They are now NO LONGER to be seen there!! My
own personal collection of WLSR memorabilia, photos, models etc now exceeds their
collection!!!

FOREST of DEAN
During this year (1993) I visited the 'Forest' at least TWICE, going:-
(a) In March to Symonds Yat and Cannop Ponds areas, Mallards Pike Lakes and saw the
MAGNIFICENT SEVERN BORE
(b) On August 8th - A day-visit to many parts of the Forest's attractions.
